ASUS Planning to Push Out Marshmallow in Q2 2016

February 26, 2016 by Jeff Springer

ASUS users have wondered for awhile when they might expected rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to phones like the Zenfone 2 and recently released Zenfone Zoom. Today ASUS posted some information on eight total phones that they say will receive Marshmallow in Q2 2016. Here's the quick list:

  • PadFone S (PF500KL)
  • ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
  • ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE500KL, ZE550KL, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
  • ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
  • ZenFone Max (ZC550KL)
  • ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)

There are no specific release dates given for any of the updates, but Q2 begins on March 1 and ends June 30. ASUS also mentioned that they will replace some of their default stock apps with the corresponding Google apps. Google's version of Messenger, Gmail. and Calendar will all replace the ASUS variants if users perform a factory reset. If you have one of these phones you will hopefully have tasty Marshmallow in the next few months!

If you're thinking of picking up a Zenfone 2 still, check out my full comparison with the Alcatel Idol 3 from last year!
